Gadsden City came out of the half on fire to outscore Hewitt-Trussville 24-9 to take a 24-point lead into the final period before coming away with its first area win of the season with the upset 60-42 victory over the 10th-ranked Huskies on Friday.
Dee Pearson paced the Titans (10-10) with 13 points followed by Demetrius Huff with 10 points and eight rebounds. Kam Burnett chipped in nine points and six rebounds, while Mardayus Bothwell had eight points, 13 rebounds and seven assists. Jaylen Cole also had eight points and five assists.
Gadsden City returns to action on Friday at Huntsville High.
