Gadsden Times’ bowlers of the year for 2020-21 season announced
The Gadsden Times named Gadsden City’s Tommy Butler and Southside’s Jessica Clontz as its bowlers of the year for the 2020-21 season.
Butler’s high game during the season for the Titans was a 293. His high series was a 693.
He was a 2021 Youth National qualifier, a four-time Pepsi Championship regional qualifier, three-time Pepsi Championship state qualifier. Butler plans to bowl collegiately.
Clontz was part of the Panthers’ 77-game win streak that started in November of 2019 and came to an end in the regional finals against Sparkman, the eventual 6A-7A state champions.
Clontz bowled a 199 at the state tournament, where Southside fell short in the opening round to end its remarkable run of four consecutive state championships. Clontz was part of each.
Clontz’s career record is 155-8 and earned the USBC Alabama President’s Award this year.
